I wrote a blog post a few weeks ago on vision. A few days later, I was speaking with some friends about it, and I really went in depth about how to put visualization into practice and how it has helped manifest some of my dreams in life. One of my close friends suggested that I write about this. So here is a follow up to my original post on vision.
When visualizing something, instead of thinking of it for a few moments and then moving on to the next thing, make sure you spend time and submerge yourself in that vision. For example, a few years ago, I really wanted this particular sports car. I would think about this car quite often. After watching “The Secret”, I began to apply a few visualization techniques to what I was somewhat already unintentionally doing. I began to make time for envisioning this particular car, and I was specific. I began to envision what would the interior look and feel like, how the exhaust note would sound and imagining myself shifting the gears. Even down to what song would be playing on the radio. I would do this exercise quite often. After quite a bit of time, I was able to purchase that sports car, and it looked exactly like what I envisioned.
My point is to be intentional when you are visualizing. Spend a good amount of time practicing it. Become entrenched in your thoughts. Be specific, envision feelings and sounds. In my opinion, this is faith. You are expecting something that has not happened yet.
Write your goals down as well. Keep them in a place that you will see often, and it will keep your vision on the forefront of your mind. For me, it is my medicine cabinet. I open it every morning and there my goals are. This way, you will continue to work towards them.
I do have to say this…visualization is only a tool to assist you with achieving your goals. There is no substitute for hard work and prayer. With all of these things combined, I am confident that it will help you achieve your dreams and goals just as it has happened and is continuing to happen for me.
I would love to hear how faith and visualization has helped you reach your goals and dreams.
